Application of OSMO UV Protection Oil

Surface Preparation

The wood or bamboo surface must be clean and dry (max. wood moisture 20%). Old porous coatings must be cleaned. Apply only on frost-free surfaces.

Fresh wood and bamboo with a high content of natural substances should weather for approximately 6 weeks before coating to ensure better absorption and adhesion.

During renovation, thoroughly clean old surfaces. Fill small cracks and joints with suitable filler. Sand the surface thoroughly, but do not use sandpaper finer than P120. Remove sanding dust before application.

Application

• ready to use, do not dilute
• test coating recommended
• apply a thin layer with a brush or microfiber roller along the grain of the wood or bamboo
• allow to dry for approx. 12 hours with good ventilation
• then apply a second coat
• during renovation, one coat is usually sufficient

Store cloths soaked with the product in an airtight container after use due to the risk of spontaneous combustion.

Our Recommendation

Depending on weather exposure, we recommend applying a maintenance coat of OSMO UV Protection Oil after approximately 3–4 years on cleaned and undamaged wood or bamboo surfaces. Surfaces exposed to severe weather conditions may require earlier maintenance.
